Now, this is pleasant weekend surprise. It seems as though we have new music coming soon from the Turnpike Troubadours, and it's about time.
While nothing has been officially released yet, a new Turnpike song called "Mean Old Sun" is curiously available on the TouchTunes app. This is probably a misstep on the part of the digital jukebox company, but it's definitely a good sign new music is on the way.
I haven't been able to hear the entire song (you have to be a bar to be able to play it), but I have confirmed it's on the app. I also have a clip of part of the new tune, thanks to some Turnpike fans that were at a bar when this news started to circulate.
It's been 6 years since we've gotten a new batch of songs from the Oklahoma outfit, and this will be the first release since the group returned from their indefinite hiatus a few years back.
We've all been anxiously awaiting this moment since we first found out Turnpike was getting back together. Needless to say, I'm stoked.
