Hello Friends, it is officially Fall on the calendar so it is also officially football season in my eyes. This weekend’s college football card reminds me of an ex-girlfriend of mine: very good looking and one I want to show all of my friends and brag about, but hopefully in the end, it will not leave me broken-hearted and in tears (spoiler alert: it probably will).
First off, I will explain a few things about my gambling record lately. As the head honcho Logan described on a recent episode of Tailgate SZN (Like and Subscribe 5 Stars Only), we were in the midst of #FadeKennySZN (For those that may not know Kenny is a nickname of mine). I may be currently 11-16-0 on contributing to Cold Cans Pick’em and in the hole currently with Jordan after picking Nebraska +11 this past weekend (like an idiot), but the people like to forget I went 9-1 straight up on the podcast--so far the best a “celebrity” picker has done to date. We are in a new season now. It is Fall. It is #TailKennySZN. It is time to turn the ship around and finish the month of September strong. With all that being said, here is a list of games I am thinking about betting for the weekend. All betting lines are provided by DraftKings Sportsbook. Let’s start with some ACC games
Clemson (-7) @ Wake (Over/Under 55.5)
As a known Clemson Tiger hater, I also have said that I am a torch bearer for 'Sam Hartman is a System QB.' Take a look at Mitch Griffis’ numbers week 1 and tell me any different. Clemson’s offense has been very ‘meh’ to put it plainly. With it being in Winston Salem and a Black Out game for the stadium makes me want to play the home dog in Wake +7. But I believe Clemson’s Front 7 is the real deal and will give "Mr. System QB" some trouble on Saturday. A close one but give me a lean on Clemson -7.
Duke (+7.5) @ Kansas (Over/Under 65)
Any other year, I would only care about this game if it was a basketball game. But sign me up for an undefeated Duke and undefeated Kansas facing off against each other in FOOTBALL. Mike Elko has really got the boys playing good ball here lately and QB Riley Leonard has been good as advertised. I also am a big fan of this over. Both teams have scored a lot of points to start the season with Kansas (53 ppg) and Duke (36.7 ppg) so it’s a good chance there will be a high scoring game. The lean is KU-Duke Over 65
Notre Dame (+2) @ UNC (Over/Under 55.5)
The Fighting Irish need more than luck on their side if they want to get a win in Chapel Hill Saturday afternoon. Drake Maye AKA 'The Second Coming' will throw for 400 yards against this team. Drew “Do Your F****** Job”
Pyne will not be doing his f****** job on Saturday because UNC defense, as bad as it has been all year, it is due for a bounce back game.
The lean for me is UNC -2, even though I hate betting spreads less than 3 points--so my lean will be UNC ML (-130)
UCONN (+38) @ NC State (Over/Under 49.5)
As a avid NC State fan, I sometimes let my heart bet instead of my brain. This game is definitely a Squid Game like Tug-of-War between my heart and brain about this whole game in entirety. UCONN had a glimmer of hope to start the season but injuries have gone through them like a plague. If State was on the road, I would be a little worried, but I will lean towards the heart instead of my brain meaning the lean is State -38 and the over at 49.5. State’s offense is due for a good showing and they will have to sink or swim with Clemson coming up next weekend.
Boston College (+17.5) @ Florida State (Over/Under 48.5)
I think the ACC is fun to watch when Florida State has a good team. Jordan Travis is playing good ball, other than getting injured last week, to start this season--which is great to see if you are a Noles fan. As I am writing this blog, Travis is a TBD to start which makes me want to lean towards the Eagles to cover. The Eagles are off to a stellar start to the season with a home loss to Rutgers and a thrashing in Blacksburg Week 2. If this game was played in Chesnut Hill, I might would play BC +17.5 but since I have not seen the best out of the Eagles yet. I am leaning towards FSU -17.5, but that could all change if Tate Rodemaker is the starter come Saturday night.
Quick Non-ACC Games I Am Looking At (Bold Letters is my Lean)
Tennessee -10.5 vs Florida
Texas -6.5 vs Texas Tech +6.5
Arkansas +1.5 vs Texas A&M (Arkansas ML +105)
Ohio State vs Wisconsin (Under 57)
Hawaii vs New Mexico State (Over 53)
Today is the dawn of a new era. Follow along with my picks on my Twitter (@kinchen1andonly) or the Cold Cans Pick’em Twitter (@coldcanspickem) Until next week, Godspeed.
